AUT's journey with Studiosity

Like every good partnership, AUT works collaboratively with Studiosity for a shared goal: increased academic and wellbeing outcomes for AUT's students.
2017 - 2024

Strong foundations

Launching at AUT with Studiosity's classic Writing Feedback and Connect Live services, the university saw high satisfaction and confidence from students using Studiosity.

2025

Transition to Plus

In 2024, AUT upgraded to Studiosity's AI-powered study support through Writing Feedback Plus and Study Assist, marking a significant evolution in student engagement. The number of students engaging with formative feedback grew 7x, from 3% to 21%.

2026

More analysis and expansion

AUT continue to interrogate the data available to them via their PowerBI dashboard on Studiosity users' outcomes, the rate of uptake and the impact on student satisfaction and confidence. There is scope to grow the program to serve even more students at AUT.

Outcomes of the AI-powered support

Presented by Jane Henzell, Academic Support Senior Manager at AUT, at the March 2026 New Zealand Partner Forum.

↑ Increase in engagement

Studiosity users at AUT increased dramatically between 2021 to 2025, from just 3% of students to 21% - driven by Al service adoption and student confidence.

↑ Equity of access

Users span ethnic groups with strong engagement by international and first-year students needing writing support and transitioning to university.

↑ Higher academic performance

Students who accessed the service achieved grades that were, on average, 0.71 points higher than peers enrolled in similar courses. However, correlation does not imply causation.

"What Studiosity has shown us is that AI generative feedback definitely has a place in our university... and can strengthen the role of AI feedback as a current and core academic resource at AUT."

Jane Henzell, Academic Support Senior Manager
Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

In this episode, Prof Damon Salesa discusses the importance of curiosity and humility in learning, the role of history in understanding the present, and the challenges facing higher education today. In conversation with Studiosity's Chief Academic Officer, Prof Judyth Sachs.
