Writing Feedback Plus

Feedback on the draft, and the draft stays the student's.

Students upload their own work, whether notes, a rough first attempt or something nearly finished, and get feedback in minutes on the things that change a grade.

What it comments on

Whether the student's thinking answers the task that was set. Whether the argument holds together. Whether claims are supported.

Structure

The student makes the change, so the student learns it.

When a tool rewrites a sentence, the student gets a better sentence and learns nothing. When it instead points out that a paragraph makes a claim the source doesn't support, the student has to decide what to do about it. Making that decision is higher-order thinking, and it's what makes them a better writer.

Studiosity gives feedback on a student's own work and does not produce work for them.

At any stage, which is what makes it worth doing more than once

Feedback on a plan is different from feedback on a final draft, and the product knows which it's looking at. Students who come back through several rounds get more out of it than students who come once, and that difference is large enough to show up in continuation data.

Why trust it to read an argument?

It was built on more than twenty years of feedback given by academics on student writing, and a standing academic team reviews and corrects what it produces.

Georgia State University faculty found Studiosity's feedback largely consistent with their own evaluation of student work.
