The Platform

The writing improves, and the learning is shown.

Writing Feedback Plus works on the thinking behind the writing.

Structure, argument, evidence, and whether it answers the task that was set. It shows the student where the work needs attention and leaves the change to them.

Validate shows they have command of what they submitted.

That it sits with their previous writing, that they can explain what’s in it, and that it met the AI level set for the assessment.

Each is worth having on its own. Together, the learning and the showing of it happen in the same place.

Writing Feedback Plus

It tells students what isn’t working, and leaves the writing to them.

Students upload a draft at any stage and get feedback in minutes across six areas: task alignment, critical thinking, structure, use of sources, language, and spelling and grammar. It points them in a useful direction. It never rewrites. Students who come back through several drafts get considerably more out of it than students who come once, and that’s the behaviour the evidence is built on.

Validate

A standard students meet when they hand it in.

When students submit, they show they understand their own work: that they wrote it, that they can explain what’s in it, and that it sits alongside their other writing. Their educator has already set what the assessment allows and how much evidence it needs. Everyone in the assessment goes through the same process. Where the standard is met, that’s recorded. Where it isn’t, the work goes to the educator with the reasons shown.

Better together

Together, the learning and the showing of it happen in the same place.

Students who know they’ll show their understanding at the end take the feedback more seriously along the way. And students who’ve been drafting with feedback find showing their understanding at the end straightforward, because they’ve been doing it for weeks. Writing Feedback Plus develops the work. Validate is where the student shows command of it. Either one is valuable alone.

How it works

The educator makes two decisions, and the students do the rest.

The academic who designed the assessment decides two things: how much AI use it permits, and the Validity Threshold the work needs to reach. The bar can differ by assessment, and it should. Students write, get feedback, and revise as often as they like. When they submit, they show command of their work against what was set. Where they do, that’s recorded. Where they don’t, the work goes to the educator with the reasons shown, and the educator decides. There are no scores, no percentages and no accusations.
